An Old Irish Cottage
The renovation of Glenculloo Cottage was undertaken with guests in mind. Visitors enjoy the best of both worlds... modern comfort and convenience... and old-world charm. Great care was taken to preserve the integrity and character of the original cottage and barn, which date to the late 18th century.
The new addition is nestled behind the original cottage at the base of the Glenculloo foothills. It incorporates 3 bedrooms, modern bathrooms and laundry facilities. Furnishings are fitting of a country cottage and blend seamlessly with the original structure. When desired, you may remove yourself from the crowd (typically found chatting, singing, or drinking by the fireside), and retreat to your quiet bedroom sanctuary to read, meditate, take a hot shower, or just climb into your warm bed.
Each morning, breakfast is served fireside, and you can leisurely sip your coffee or tea as you anticipate your day. Our cozy parlor, with its original hand-carved fireplace, is a guest favorite. Here, warmed by a fragrant turf fire, guests enjoy their evening cocktail, watch TV, read... or just reminisce.
Guest Rooms
All guest rooms have independent climate control for your personal comfort. Fluffy comforters, luxurious linens, and heated mattress toppers assure a cozy and rejuvenating sleep. Plush robes are provided to lounge around the cottage. Because you are the only guests at Glenculloo Cottage during your stay, you can feel completely at ease to be yourself, and utilize the cottage as if it were your own. Bed and Breakfast Guests have one queen room, a double twin room, and a double twin loft all to themselves. Self-Catering guests who rent the entire cottage also have a second queen room which is the innkeepers quarters when they run the cottage as a B&B. Please view our Self-Catering & Full Service page for details.
Bathrooms
The cottage is equipped with modern bathroom facilities, including stand-up showers and porcelain sinks. Ample hot water, soft cotton linens, and complimentary toiletries are provided, as well as any necessities you may have forgotten. B&B guests share one full bath.
Kitchen
Glenculloo Cottage has modern kitchen facilities including a refrigerator, convection oven with gas hob, dishwasher and microwave. An electric kettle and coffee-maker are available.
Sitting Room (Parlor)
In our parlor, you can enjoy the open fireplace with its original hand-carved surround as you watch satellite TV, read, or sip your cocktail. A pine stairway leads to the original cottage loft, which guests may select for their bedroom accommodation.
Great Room
The Great Room, which greets you upon entering the red front door, has been welcoming guests for over two centuries. It has never failed to elicit a gasp as visitors first behold its original stone hearth, slate floor and hipped pine ceiling.
Internet Access
Due to our location in Glenculloo Valley, at the base of Keeper Hill and fronting the Mulkear River, we do not have access to a broadband internet connection. Dial-up connection is possible through the phone line. We can recommend a local internet café with high-speed internet access, copy, and fax capabilities.
